Hanny Muggeridge

In 1954, Hannie’s family moved to Canada from Holland. She began painting early and received a high school diploma in art. During the summer she taught art at a summer camp for boys and enjoyed evening courses at the Ontario College of Art. Another adventure awaited when her husband finished his PhD, in engineering and their young family moved to St. John’s NL. A shared pastime pleasure, rock collecting, led Hannie to earn a BSc in Earth Sciences. By then she had become entrenched in the rich St. John’s art scene. In this supportive environment she could say “I am an artist!”. Her paintings began to reflect a geological aspect. In 1993 they moved to BC where she continues to paint the disappearing flora and expressive landscapes in watercolour and oil.
